A person who lived close to an earth and stone mound here in San Martín was able to acquire two artifacts (antique objects) found by two young boys when they were playing. There was a grey stone yoke without any engraving and a kneeling “monkey” (“mono”), two inches tall, with long braids behind. Two years ago two engineers came and asked for them. “That neighbor didn’t charge for them, he gave them away” (“El paisano ni les cobró, les regaló”). The engineers started to excavate, but did not find anything.

I haven’t heard about other archaeological sites or of other artifacts.

The mound is located on a hill where it had been very prominent. The people were living in hot country, where there is now a pasture. The mound is 20 feet high. It is predominantly composed of earth, but there are many rocks. It may have had three levels.
